Chris Brown is finally breaking his silence about the night he and ex-girlfriend Rihanna re-enacted the limo scene from What’s Love Got To Do With It? inside a Lamborghini after a pre-Grammy party in 2009. The aftermath of that fight declared Rihanna the winner while Chris was transformed from happy, dancing heart throb into the second coming of Ike Turner. In the years since, Chris has remained tight-lipped about the incident, but now with his new documentary Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life, he’s ready to tell it all!
Basically, Chris reveals in the documentary (via People) that he and Rihanna met each other in 2004 when they were both still teenagers, and entered into relationship soon after. Then, infidelity struck in the form of an unnamed homewrecking whore who treated Chris to a slice of side pussy prior to their relationship, a fact he denied before they got together. And y’all know Rihanna is Petty Betty, so after that she and Chris’s relationship began a Titanic-like nosedive. Chris says:
“My trust totally was lost with her. She hated me after that. I tried everything, she didn’t care. She just didn’t trust me after that. From there, it just went downhill because there were too many verbal fights, physical fights as well. Mutual sides.”
“We would fight each other. She would hit me, I would hit her and it never was OK.”
“There was always a point where we’d talk about it like, ‘What the f— are we doing? Like, ‘I don’t like you slapping me.’ If I go on stage I got a scratch on my face and I gotta explain it like, ‘Oh, no I fell.’ If you got a scar or a bruise you gotta put makeup on. I’m not ever trying to put my hands on any female.”
Their constant barrage of boxing matches all came to a head on that fateful night in 2009 when, during the annual Clive Davis Grammy party, the unnamed side piece showed up without either of their knowledge. Or so Rihanna thought. Chris goes on:
“The ceremony’s about to start, she’s just crying. She got over it. She started drinking a little bit, we both was drinking a little bit. We were both drinking a little bit, laughing, joking. And then we left.”
That night, Rihanna discovered a text message from the woman on Brown’s phone, which led her to believe he knew the other woman would be there.
And that’s when they both heard the announcer from Mortal Kombat chime in screaming “Round 1. FIGHT!” They began arguing, which led to Rihanna trying to kick Chris, which led to Chris hitting Rihanna in the face, which led to Rihanna spitting blood into his face, which led to him finally pulling over. Chris goes into further detail in the below video, however the one thing that holds true even after all these years is this; There clearly are no winners in a relationship this toxic. And Chris knows now that he’ll never be able to forget that night, but if he does, I’m sure he won’t have to look far for someone to remind him.
“I look back at that picture and I’m like that’s not me, bro, that’s not me. I hate it to this day. That’s going to haunt me forever.”
