It’s no secret that Chris Brown loves to fight, but when his hands get tired, what is a combative asshole to do? In Chris Brown’s case, he starts fighting with the mother of his 4-year-old daughter Royalty over child support.
According to The Blast, Royalty Brown’s mother Nia Guzman has hired attorney Lisa Bloom and filed documents in California to change her current child support agreement. Chris currently pays Nia $6,500 a month: $2,500 in child support, and $4,000 for a nanny, which also happens to be Nia’s mom. At one point in time, Nia was asking for $16,000 a month, but that request was denied. So Nia settled on $2,500 plus the cost of a nanny. That was two years ago, and things in Chris’ bank account have changed. Nia’s recent documents argue that since 2016, Chris Brown has earned an average of $4,269,067 a year, which works out to about $350,000 a month.
Under California law, Nia’s entitled to a percentage of Chris’ earnings, and according to her calculations, she should be getting about $21,000 a month (Nia is also asking for retroactive child support to the tune of $250,000). She also claims she’s not able to pay some of her bills, like $3,300 in rent, $3,500 in food, and $4,500 in clothing for Royalty.
A judge sided with Nia, and her request for more money will be approved and finalized next week. But she might not be celebrating just yet. Sources tell The Blast that Chris Brown believes this is nothing but a blatant cash-grab, and he plans on fighting the decision.
One of Nia’s examples of why she was desperate for more money is the claim that she had to ask a friend to take Royalty to Six Flags, because she didn’t have extra money in her budget for such an extravagance. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Chris Brown’s lawyers might argue that Nia could buy tickets with some of the $4,500 a month that’s spent on clothing? Or at least find a children’s boutique that sells cheaper clothing. I’m not saying Royalty has to downgrade from gold-plated ballet slippers to silver, just that I’m sure there’s a better deal to be found out there somewhere.
